All Chinese and English books are classified by the Library of Congress Classification Scheme.
They are shelved by classification numbers.
The call number was established by subject, author and publication year.
e.g. : GV711 .M37 2012
Some high demand items are available in multiple copies.
Reference tools include dictionaries, directories, encyclopaedias, atlases, yearbooks and government publications etc. are kept on shelves in the area marked " Reference Not for Loan ".
All reference books are indicated by “REF” on the book's spine for identification. These materials are for use in the library only.
Audio-visual materials are kept inside the library office. The collection includes CD-ROMs, VCDs, DVDs, audio cassettes, videocassettes etc. All AV materials are available for loan to staff and students.
Current journals are shelved alphabetically by titles in the periodical racks and back issues are kept in magazine boxes of the nearby open shelves.
Holding information of all journals can be found on the OPAC and the periodical list at Circulation Counter. Newspapers are also available for reading in the library.
Books, journal articles, past-exam papers, legislation loose-leaves, audio-visual materials and teacher-owned materials are kept in closed access behind the circulation counter.
These high in demand items are available for 2 hrs short-loan in library use only. For use of these materials please enquire at the counter.
